BlackBerry Playbook Tablet Subpar – $399 Tablets Can Do Better…

RIM playbook tablet - glorified web browser
As I have said in many of my previous articles, the RIM BlackBerry Playbook is a dud. Oh…and another person that said the same thing was Steve Jobs. He said the BlackBerry Tablet is going to flop and it seems that he is right. Out of the gate the Playbook Tablet is getting hammered with not great reviews.

Think about it RIM wants $500 – $700 for this BlackBerry tablet. Who the hell does RIM think they are…Apple?

For the base model you get a 7-inch , NOT 10 inch tablet that can only do the basics, like surf the internet. As well the special HDMI cable is not included..you have to pay for it if you want to hook it up to a TV, and the most important part of it is there is no applications. I’ve been saying this for months before the release that RIM has a flawed strategy / product introducing something based on an unknown OS with no applications.

Later on RIM said they will introduce a middle layer software that will allow you to run Android Apps. Knock Knock…hello, if you want to run Android Apps buy an Android Tablet, which will be a heck of a lot cheaper and will run the applications natively, not through a virtual machine like the BlackBerry Playbook Tablet which will be slow.

Just do a search on Viewsonic G-Table…my co-worker has one. He got it from Amazon for less than $399. It has the following:

CPU:
1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 – Dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU with 512MB DDR
Screen: 10.1″ TFT-LCD with LED driver system
Input/Output: USB 2.0 (Slave), Mini USB 2.0 (Host), 3.5mm stereo headphone, Micro SD, Dock for HDMI/Headphone/USB (optional), DC Input (Power)
Android: 2.2

The Viewsonic Android Tablets and many like it by Acer, Asus and Samsung are so much more superior than the BlackBerry Tablet…it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the value is just not there by buying a RIM Playbook Tablet. As yourself, after spending $500 – $700 on this thing what am I going to do with it?
