The answer here is “YES”, with a catch. If you are talking about an Intel i7-2630qm (quad core) laptop / notebook that does not have a discrete graphics card like Nvidia.
If the laptop has an Intel i7 2630qm with an Intel HD graphics card built-in then the HP Pavilion DV6-6124CA with the AMD A8-3530mx will destroy the Intel i7 laptop in the video related areas like 1080p HD Video playback, video editing and photo editing and the reason will be because of the APU. Integration of processor with graphics chip is fast and will generally outperform the Intel HD graphics. There are plenty of videos on YouTube where they test this scenario and the AMD A8 comes out on top in both video and multi-tasking.
However, for processor intensive applications where a lot of number crunching is required, like a complex MS Excel spreadsheet and no graphics is involved the Intel i7 laptop with NO discrete graphics will win, but seeing how everything you do with your computer these days involves graphics…I think the HP Pavilion DV6-6124CA will be enough for most people, even power users.
