Beware Of Lying Sneaky Bosses or Managers

Let me tell you a story about managers at work who lie. The story is about two managers at my previous job and for this post, let’s give them initals so the story will be more clear.

Below are the initials we will assign the lying sneaky managers.

Coping With The Bad Boss

While I was working at my previous job which is an internet company located in Toronto, my department was going through some difficult times as the online e-mail and e-mail defense system this company was offering was literally not working properly and customers were flocking away at a record pace.

During this time W.D the Vice President of Sales (liar #1) said to A.J the Director of Sales.
“I won’t let you go or fire you, your job is safe.”

One week later A.J the Director of Sales was fired and escorted by security out of his office and out the building. A.J said W.D had promised he wouldn’t fire him, and then turned around and let him go. So far for promises.

The short story above was about liar #1, now here’s the story about liar #2 P.L
Not long after A.J was fired, W.D then hired P.L to replace him. This P.L was my previous boss, and he was a real prick, nobody liked him and he came from within the sales department. He is nicknamed Mr. Bean cause quite frankly this loser looked just like Mr. Bean.

P.L came into the department and said to all the employees “With me as a new manager, we are going to start with a clean slate for all of you.”
Those are soothing words you might think that he said, but quite the contrary. Soon after P.L (liar #2) said those words he immediately, went and sifted through each e-mail one by one of correspondence that each employee had with the previous manager A.J. He started drudging up dirt or evidence that he can use against each employee either to get rid of them, or make his authority more pronounced. One minute he says everyone has a “clean slate” and he other moment he collects information from the past to use against his employees. What a big liar.
Shortly after this, he pulled employees into the office and presented his evidence. Some people quit because they didn’t like this kind of two face politics, and he eventually fired people that didn’t like him or disagreed with this scheming lying ways.

The fact of the matter is that these things happen everyday in corporations all around the world. It’s the nature of office politics and I’m sure everyone has stories to tell about their lying sneaky managers. There are a lot of emotionally unstable people out there. People with anger , communication, egomaniac, dominaring and abusive behaviour problems and they end up to be your manager. I’ve worked 11 years in the office environment at many companies and I’ve seen all types of scary personalities of managers. Unfortunately, you can’t do much, the best thing you can do is find a new job, or work for yourself. Just be aware, that if you think you can trust your manager… think twice.
