A Funeral That Reminded Me Of What Life Is About

by Das Brain

I attended my friend’s father funeral last Saturday, and I have to say that it reminded me that life is really about the people close to you in life. I always knew this, but sometimes certain aspects of life (money pressure and career) can take over and lead you in the wrong direction or lead you to mistreat your loved ones.

I believe everything in life happens for a reason, and after I left this funeral I realized, that it was meant to remind me that even though I have been laid off, I still have people that care about me in my life like my wife, brothers, close friends and my mom and dad.

My heart goes out to my friend who lost his father. His father was a great man who did everything he could to support his wife and nine children. Extremely hard worker who did his best and still manage to treat his wife and kids very well. I knew him as a child and through to my teenage years.

This funeral also brought to the forefront of my thoughts, this statement.
“At the end of your life, it’s not about how much you are worth monetarily and what you have materially. It is about what you have done with your wealth, knowledge, love, time and energy to help others, especially the people close to you.”

I think that my lay off from my work, was somehow a blessing of sorts. It will give me time to contemplate and re-focus my life without being caught up in the day to day grind. I think it was a much needed break that I feel will lead to something better.

The lay off, the funeral, it is all happening to teach me something and to lead me in a different more positive direction in life.
