Further legitimizing Bitcoin as an alternative currency to the U.S dollar, one of the largest media company in the United States will begin to accept Bitcoins from potential customers.

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — Dish Network Corp. DISH +0.12% said Thursday it will begin accepting bitcoin payments in the third quarter, making it the largest company to accept the digital currency to date. “Bitcoin is becoming a preferred way for some people to transact and we want to accommodate those individuals,” said Bernie Han, Dish executive vice president and chief operating officer. Dish Network will work with the bitcoin company Coinbase to process bitcoin payments. Customers will be able to make one-time payments with bitcoin online, the company said.
