Russians Offering Mac OS X Clone PCs Again

Apple Mac OS X Clone PC Psystar Russsian

This news is a few months old but here goes. The last time the Russians offered Apple clones was back in the days of the Soviet Union.

Despite Apple CEO Steve Jobs complaints, RUSSIANS have started churning out cloned Mac PCs.  Apple has failed to gain any ground in Russia because the operating system and hardware are just too expensive for everyday Russians to afford.  They don’t see the point of not eating for a year just to buy computer, when they have figured out how to clone them for 50% less or more.

The Soviet Union used a lot of Apple gear, but they were not badged with the Apple logo.  The hardware was cloned and manufactured in Bulgaria. In those days Apple could not complain because the only way Bulgaria was going to stop making the machines was if the USA started World War Three.

When the Berlin Wall fell so did the Bulgarian economy and its light manufacturing industry. The cloned Apple Macs disappeared.

However now it seems that RussianMac is releasing a Mac clone. According to its website, the PC will come with a full version of Mac OS X Leopard pre-installed and it is good enough to fool Apple into sending it automatic software updates.

RussianMac claims that it does not violate the terms of the licence agreement because it has bought the software legitimately from Apple.  Fortunately for RussianMac, Apple will have a hell of a job taking it to court in Russia, which has a legal system that seems to habitually misplace foreign paperwork.

Currently Apple is dealing with a North American company called “Psystar” which makes and sell Mac Clones at about 30-40% cheaper than what Apple sells the same hardware specifications for, and Apple is gaining ground in shutting down “Psystar” any day now.  So if you do not want to pay stupid expensive money for a Apple Mac, you should order from Psystar before they close down, or else you will either have to go to Russia to get a Apple Mac clone or learn how to build one yourself.

  1. [...] Now more about Hackintosh’s. There have been companies out there that have been selling Hackintosh’s for years like PsyStar, and the OSX86 project has been around since Apple’s Mac OS X Tiger was out which is at least 5 plus years ago, so this knowledge is nothing new. There are also companie’s out there that sell USB devices so that you can install the retail DVD of Apple’s MAC OS X operating system. The Russian’s have been selling Hackintosh’s as well.  Since a year ago,  Apple have sued PsyStar and now PsyStar has stopped selling their version of Hackintosh online.  However, that has not stopped the internet community from continuing on their own to install Mac OS X on PC hardware, cause in the end would you want to pay $1800 on a Mac Book Pro, when you can build one from a Toshiba laptop that is more powerful and half the price?
