Let me tell you a story about managers at work who lie. The story is about two managers at my previous job and for this post, let’s give them initals so the story will be more clear.

Below are the initials we will assign the lying sneaky managers.

50 Years Old And Looking For Work – A Bad Place To Be

Monday, April 16th, 2007

by Das Brain

Older Workers Age DiscriminationI read an article recently about people who are in their fifties looking for work that get passed up because of their age. Employers are choosing the younger workers over the older potential applicants even though this practice of ageism is illegal. Age discrimination is illegal when it comes to hiring practices, but very often this type of discrimination is very hard to prove in court and because of this it is commonly practiced by individuals who are in the position of power to hire employees.

If You Write About Someone On The Net, They Will Find Out

Friday, March 16th, 2007

This morning I checked my webstats and was completely surprised that someone came to my blog from a Google search on my ex-manager’s name as the keyword. This blog shows up as the 2nd search result when you do a search on his name. After looking at the times that this person did the search, one time at noonish (lunch) time and the other time at 5:54pm I know for sure that this person was my ex-boss himself. He has no life except his work, and usually stays until 6pm or later in his dingy little office.

Dealing With A Bad Boss

Monday, March 5th, 2007

I just thought I’d share this interesting article about how to deal with crappy bosses, after all in my previous job my new boss was a robot (personality of a stainless steel fridge) and that was one of the reason why I was laid off.
I hope this article would help you the readers to more or less get along better with your boss so you don’t go through the same head aches that I did.

How Being Unemployed Plays With Your Mind

Monday, February 26th, 2007

by Das Brain

Exactly one month and two days ago I was laid off, and although it was inevitable, and probably a blessing in disguise as many of my friends and family have told me, it still feels weird. Even though unemployment insurance and my savings will more than adequately keep me afloat for over 10 months or so, I still have this feeling as if I am non-productive and there is a big hit to my self esteem.

A Positive Job Recruiter Meeting

Tuesday, February 20th, 2007

by Das Brain

Job Centre The meeting with the job recruiter yesterday went very well. I was able to tell him what type of job position I was looking for, how much I was willing to work for, where in the greater Toronto area and what type of industry I would like to work in.

Appointment With A HeadHunter (Job Recruiter)

Job Recruiter HeadhunterVery busy day today as I have got a meeting with a headhunter or job recruiter is probably the politically correct term. This headhunter is probably the first one that have called me into a meeting since I was laid off 3 weeks ago, so that is a good sign.

More Letting Go Of Jobs, This Time From Kodak and Alcatel-Lucent

Friday, February 9th, 2007

by Das Brain

This is just going to be a short post as all these job loss press releases are getting really depressing.

Kodak announced yesterday that they will be laying off 3000 workers and today Alcatel-Lucent is looking at letting go 3500 jobs on top of the 9000 jobs they were going dismiss over a 3 year time frame.

Sad :(

Just Got Back From A Job Interview

Friday, February 2nd, 2007

by Das Brain

So today I had a job interview with an internet marketing start up company. That’s just 1 week and 2 days after I was laid off. Not bad, they were the only ones that responded quickly after I shotgun sprayed my resume out there last week. I’m not sure if there quick response is a good thing or bad thing though. It may mean that they need someone right away or they liked my resume….who knows.
