This is quite huge as a piece of news in the technology industry. Hewlett Packard / HP to get out of consumer computer business…wow. It would seem that their PC business has been suffering for quite a while, despite being one of the top 3 vendors in the computer market.

This is great video of the benchmark test of a comparison between the new AMD Llano APU processor and Intel’s Sandybrige processor. The AMD Llano APU laptop seems to be able to multi-task much better even with heavy hi-def 1080p video running.
As I have said in many of my previous articles, the RIM BlackBerry Playbook is a dud. Oh…and another person that said the same thing was Steve Jobs. He said the BlackBerry Tablet is going to flop and it seems that he is right. Out of the gate the Playbook Tablet is getting hammered with not great reviews.
Think about it RIM wants $500 – $700 for this BlackBerry tablet. Who the hell does RIM think they are…Apple?
This is a great short documentary on Marc Andressen, the pioneer that built the visual / graphical web browser Mosaic (Netscape Navigator) and eventually got over 1 million users in the 1990’s and to now exploded into the internet we know today.
RIM has fallen behind big time and they got to innovate fast as they have been leap frogged by Apple and Google. I’m Canadian and sure I want a Canadian technology company to succeed, but that doesn’t mean RIM will because I think they got too comfortable…RIM reminds me of Nortel and it might end up like Nortel if RIM doesn’t swallow its pride. Nortel got so big and popular and they rested on their laurels instead of looking to the future and innovating.
Few days ago, I was browsing the FutureShop.ca and on the front page FutueShop was having this 1 Deal-a-Day Promotion and on March 7th the deal was this spectacular deal on a 15.6 inch Acer Laptop. To be exact it was a Intel Core i3 380M (2.53 Ghz) 15 inch Laptop with 6 GB of RAM and 500 GB of hard drive space for the low price of $499.99.
Earlier in January, I spotted a Canadian rare earth mining company called Great Western Minerals group that trades on the Toronto Venture Exchange, stock symbol GWG.V that broke out from a sideways price consolidation. As you can see from the chart it was hovering at around $0.40 for quite a long time (3-4 months) and then it broke to the upside.
Let me start off by saying that the BlackBerry Curve 8310 I had was not great. I had it for roughly 2.5 years and it was a company phone…I hated it, everything was slow about it from GPS operation to surfing the internet over Edge network and the browser sucked crap.
Currently most of the Android smartphones out there run Android OS version 1.5 to 2.1. Rogers.ca offers some of the newest Android smartphones like the Sony Xperia X10, HTC Magic, Motorola Quench and LG Eve, however even though they are the latest smartphones that Rogers Canada offers, don’t get me wrong they are great multi-function phones, but those phones are still running Android versions 1.5 to 2.1.
