The Galleria Mall in Houston, Texas – Shoe Shopping and Saving

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

A week or so ago my wife was looking for a pair of Puma running shoes online and the price she saw in u.s dollars was $90. At the malls in the Toronto area they were asking about $120 CAD plus 14% tax. So on a recent business trip to Houston, Texas to attend a tradeshow I went to the Galleria mall in Houston, Texas. When I was at the Galleria mall I located a Women’s Footlocker and they had the Puma shoes that she was looking for called the Cell Therid.

Taiwan Vacation – Flight To Taipei, Taiwan – Part 1

Air Canada flight to Taipei, Taiwan from Toronto

The flight to Taipei, Taiwan is not cheap. During the month of March a airline ticket to Taipei, Taiwan will run about $1600 CAD after taxes, give or take a hundred dollars. On this trip to Taiwan, I booked my wife’s plane ticket using my Air Canada Aeroplan points, so basically she flew for almost free. I say almost free because even though I do not have to pay for the airplane ticket to Taiwan, Air Canada makes you pay for the taxes on the ticket, which works out to be like $180 CAD. That of course is better than paying $1600 CAD.

Some History About Taiwan Before I Write About My Trip

Taiwan FlagBefore I start writing about my recent trip to Taiwan I thought I would provide some basic data on the island country,Taiwan.

First of all most American’s and Canadian’s are not familiar with Taiwan, unless they’ve been there, they know someone who is from there or they have been pro-active and learned about foreign lands on their own. When people hear Taiwan, they often mistaken Taiwan for Thailand. I’ve heard quite a few ignorant individuals say “Ya, I know Taiwan……I like Thai food.” Uhmm….Thai food is from Thailand you dumbass not Taiwan.

My wife and I returned on Friday March 7th from a 2.5 weeks vacation in Taiwan. It was a spectacular vacation to say the least. We had a wonderful time exploring the island country and some of the locals we talked to there actually said that we have explored more of Taiwan than some Taiwanese citizens. :)

The Las Vegas part of our trip was very eventful. In Las Vegas, there is so much to see and do for a city in the desert. To name a few things you can go hotel hopping, see lots of different types of shows, walk the Las Vegas strip, do some shopping and of course drink and gamble. And that is just the short list.

Well, I just got back from vacation last Thursday. The destinations I went to were California (Los Angeles County) and Las Vegas. For this post Part 1, I will mainly write about southern California.

The trip to southern California actually started three Saturdays ago in Las Vegas where my wife and her younger sister flew in on Air Canada. I came in on a later American Airlines flight that same day.
