I attended my friend’s father funeral last Saturday, and I have to say that it reminded me that life is really about the people close to you in life. I always knew this, but sometimes certain aspects of life (money pressure and career) can take over and lead you in the wrong direction or lead you to mistreat your loved ones.

Recently I sold some shares in Corning NYSE: GLW. That’s Corning stock on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). I sold 500 shares in total, the breakdown is as follows:
Bought 200 shares @ $4 = $800 Dec, 2002
Bought 300 shares @ $7.15 = $2145 June, 2003
Total opening trade cost = $2945 USD
I sold 500 shares @ $21.15 = $10,575
So, total amount taking in to close the trade was $10575 USD.

It’s 7:15am E.S.T Monday morning and I am up early writing this post. Since last week, when I was terminated from work I have been sending out resumes like crazy. I have been online on most of the job sites looking for positions that I have the qualifications for and of course applying for them. So far, I applied for at least seven positions.

As the title suggest, life has a sick sense of humour and irony. I was let go or terminated from my job this morning. The morning after I had just blogged about why I wanted to run my own profitable business and not have to worry about being laid off, or let go from my job.

I dabbled in entrepreneurship a little here and there before making the serious decision. For instance, when I used to travel to all over the United States, Asia and Australia for my the software company I used to work for I would look for things that I could re-sell on Ebay.

My wife signed up for her works retirement savings plan a few months back through her company’s investment brokers “Dundee Securities Corporation”, and she began contributing into a Stock Growth fund.
Well recently, she called the broker to move her assets from Stock Growth Fund into a mutual fund that invest in Money Market instead of stocks to reduce exposure to a downward or volatile market, and the broker tried and succeeded in talking her out of moving it.

TORONTO — A computer security breach at the U.S. company that owns the Winners and HomeSense retail chains in Canada began last May, months before the company detected it in December and made the problem public earlier this week.
A spokeswoman for TJX Co. of Framingham, Mass., which owns Winners and HomeSense, said Friday the company remains restricted in what it can reveal because of ongoing criminal investigations but said there has been some confusion in media reports about how long ago customer information may have been compromised.
